Owen Pugh has been selected to stand for the Conservatives in the Stamford West division. Working for an environmental charity his focus is improving how Stamford looks and works. Having spent a great deal of time talking to Stamfordians about the issues they want to see prioritised he is committed to delivering transport and accessibility improvements for the town.

I’d like to help expand pedestrianisation in parts of Stamford West, making it more attractive and accessible for people and businesses while making the roads safer and more durable.

I agree that we have some traffic problems. Most notably we have many roads in Stamford that are too narrow for two-way traffic, certainly for large lorries and which should become part of an improved Stamford cycle network. I’d like to see cycling expanded with more bike racks and more pedestrianising of areas to improve accessibility and safety so people can feel more confident using greener modes of transport.
