Many people looking after someone close to them do not realise they are carers.
If you support a family member, friend or neighbour who would struggle to manage without your help, you may be an unpaid carer, even if it is something that has gradually become part of everyday life.
Caring takes many forms. It might mean helping with shopping, medication, transport to appointments, emotional support, paperwork, meals, or simply being there when someone needs reassurance. You do not need to live with the person you support, and you do not need to provide care full time to be recognised as a carer.
If this sounds familiar, support is available.
The Lincolnshire Carers Service provides practical, friendly support from people who understand the pressures carers face every day. They run free events and activities where carers can meet others, take a break, learn new skills and access advice in a relaxed setting.
There is also support for the wider household. This can include benefits advice, help around employment, wellbeing support and guidance tailored to individual circumstances. The service can also arrange a Carer’s Assessment to help identify what support may make caring more manageable and help carers maintain their own health and wellbeing.
The service supports adult carers, parent carers and young adult carers across Lincolnshire.
If you think you may be a carer, or you know someone who might be, please do reach out. Help is available and you do not have to manage alone.
